HERRING NEWS: Spokesmen for the nation's herring schools and several schools for the hard of herring claimed today that their schools were being systematically underfunded by the Federal government. This announcement came as thousands of herring converged on Washington today demanding an improvement in the lives of herring in the United States. Several of the spokesmen also condemned the social safety net, claiming that the net favored some minorities over others and that the net as currently operated limited herring to short term employment in the food industry. The civil rights divisions of the Department of Justice and the Fish and Wildlife Service said in response that they would look in to the matters brought up by the herring and that the Administration would not tolerate the denial of civil rights to herring simply because of their species or because tens of thousands of misguided people think they taste good.
